Ölüdeniz is known all around the world as Turkey’s Blue Lagoon because of the perfect turquoise and aquamarine hues of its waters. The tidiness and clarity of this stunning beach and the view along the mountains, peace, and calmness here will mesmerize you at your very first sight.
Olu Deniz beach is a tourist hot spot for those who are truly looking for a stunning heavenly beach that offers a lot more than just chilling in the sand. You can rent a sunlounger for a small price to lay down relax and watch paragliders jumping off the mountains and floating in the sky. To have the panoramic birds-eye view of this beach it is highly recommended to go paragliding or just hike up to Father mount Babadag.
There are a number of activities that you can partake in Oludenize such as swimming, windsurfing, jet skiing and paragliding or just getting a drink or a platter of seafood or donner kebob at bars and cafes located right on the beach.
Mount Babadag
The Paraglider paradise!! the peak of Mount Babadag is at about 2000 meters from sea level and has a height that makes it challenging for those who want to climb to the summit. But once you make it to the summit via bus or walk you will have a stunning bird’s eye view of Oludeniz’s majestic beach area.
The summit can be reached by hiking or just taking a mini-bus (Dolmus) from Olu Deniz bus terminal for about 15 Lira or so. The walk to the summit is not too steep but it is overall a rubble track which makes it a bit harder for climbers.
If you want to get a great view of Paragliders and their tandem paragliding flights, then Babadag Mountain is just what you’re looking for. The drive up was really difficult but once we reached there were nice picnic areas providing stunning views over all this country had offer which included.
Kidrak Natural Park
Great hiking opportunities if you are adventurous enough!! Kidrak Natural Park is another Oludenize attraction, it is located along with the coast about 2 km from Oludeniz and 16 km from Fethiye and 130 km from Mugla.
A deep valley along the beach is known for its lush vegetation. The best way to get there is by renting a car or taking a taxi from Oludeniz’s main square which will cost around 30 TL one-way or you can take just a bus from Oludeniz.
The entrance fee which is actually parking costs 30 TL per car. The area is beautiful with amazing views of mountains snd beaches area. The beach is rocky and sandy mixed I would suggest keeping the beach shoe or sandals handy may help.
But the good thing is it is less crowded less touristy. Also, it may not be suitable for kids as the beach is rough and deep. There is one restaurant where you can get nice food or drinks or you can do your own BBQ in the dedicated area.
Paragliding
Oludeniz Paragliding is one of Oludenize’s coolest activities, it is indeed a paragliding Macca. It costs about $100/person. Oludenize paragliding was given its official recognition by the Turkish Aeronautical Association. The amazing view and wind condition make Oludeniz a perfect site for paragliding.
At the paragliding launchpad, you will be given safety and operational training before the flight. Once you’re ready to fly their paragliding pros who have years of experience will make you feel safe. They will help you to launch your flight by doing the last safety check and ensuring the parachute is inflated and the wind condition is favorably good.
The summit is about 2000 meters above sea level you can get to the launch site by bus in about 30 minutes or get a cab or walk but hiking may not be an easy one. You will be mesmerized by the beautiful view of Oludeniz and its coastline, making this activity even more enjoyable.
